Each year, communityearth presents these recognition awards to honor local and regional champions of the sustainability community. Watch for details on how you can attend and participate in this unique opportunity to meet and learn from some of our community's most inspiring and celebrated leaders in the field of sustainability This year's World of Possibilities Awards presented by communityearth honors four awardees from the Morristown area. The award recognizes individuals or organizations that positively impact at least one of the three key components of sustainability: economic vitality; ecological stewardship, or an equitable and just society.This year's winners include: - Jeff Brown - Teacher, ThomasJeffersonSchool. Mr. Brown is dedicated to sustainability education and programs including "Save the Earth - Save our Future".
- Marty Epstein - owner of Marty's Reliable Cycles. Marty is being recognized for his tireless devotion to making Morristown a more sustainable community.
- Homeless Solutions, Inc. - Homeless Solutions is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing shelter, services and supportive housing to the homeless and people classified with low-income. They are leaders in the construction of local, Energy Star rated, affordable "green housing".
- The PassaicRiver Coalition - The Passaic River Coalition is a not-for-profit organization committed to protecting water quality and water resources in the region.
Each recipient has at least one program, product or service that contributes toward ensuring a sustainable future.The World of Possibilities Awards were presented on April 17th 2010 at the Earth Day celebration in Lewis Morris Park. The uniquely designed mosaic awards were handcrafted and inspired by local Towaco artist, Eleanor Parr-DiLeo. The award's one-of-a-kind nature symbolizes the distinctive contribution this year's honorees demonstrate. . |

SATURDAY APRIL 30, 2011 The Morris County Park Commission and communityearth are already working on our region's 2011 contribution to the exciting 41st Anniversary of this worldwide celebration of our planet. Plan on bringing the entire family to an afternoon of live nature, hands-on crafts and educational activities, musical performances, a green and sustainable products expo, healthy food and FUN! The celebration will take place at Sunrise Lake in Lewis Morris Park.
